Time for more video games! I'll be quick and to the point with this one. About 3 or 4 days ago I got bored out of my skull and decided to go retro with my gaming. So I picked up Star Ocean: Second Story for the PS1.
The entire playable cast of Star Ocean.
The game is about a young man named Claude Kenni who is out exploring an uninhabited planet when he gets suddenly teleported to an unknown world. A young girl, Rena, is in danger of being killed by a monster so he steps in with a piece of his high-tech weaponry, and everyone mistakes him for the Hero of Legend, told of in the world's prophecies. He eventually gets roped into investigating the strange occurances that plague the planet while in the midst of trying to find a way to get back home. It includes an, at the time, reasonably new fighting system that allows a free range of character movement and direct control of your attacks and skills. The game is topped off with good comedic scenes, and a host of fun and quirky characters, my favorite being Ashton Anchors, who by fault of Claude and co, end up with a two headed dragon attached to his back. Poor Ashton! I would recommend it for anyone a fan of a good, long RPG, and doesn't mind dealing with PS1 level graphics. Also, a little known fact is that Star Ocean also has its own anime! Its called Star Ocean EX, for anyone interested in having a peek. It basically follows the story of the game, to a certain extent.
Level of Addiction 7/10 - Ashton's voice is 3/5 of the reason
I keep coming back to this. Hearing him exclaim 'Oh, GOOOD!!!' after
a hard fought battle makes it worth it every time.
