Hurray! Its video game time again, and this is a good one. For about the past week or so, maybe a few days more, I've been on this online game client called
BYOND. This is a three part package that allows you to search for, create, and play games created by other users. Its completely free, you just download the small client file and off you go towards gamey goodness. Unfortunately most of the games in there these days are copies of other, older games, and its dominated by Naruto games and half-baked DragonBall Z games. But once every while comes a really great game. Like the subject of this post. One of my new favorite creators, Darker Emerald, created
Resident Evil: Online 2. This game has all the fun, horror, and action of the original Resident Evil games, and the added feature of having you, along with possibly many other fellow survivors, attempting to battle zombies together. They really went over the top with the game, adding custom maps, familiar locations from the games, and a large selection of who you can choose to play as(I prefer the original badass himself, Chris Redfield).
There're a lot of different maps to experience, and they recently installed a class system that allows you to choose specifically what role you want to play, such as an Arms Specialist, who is more proficient in heavy weaponry and can carry more ammo for it, or an Infiltrator, who's more agile and precise, which makes it easier for him or her to obtain head shots. I've been playing for quite a while now and whenever I'm not doing anything pressing, I always find myself coming back to this game for 'just one more round, and I'll quit forever, I swear'.
They also include wave after wave of zombie attacks, plus all the epic abominations you know and hate from almost every
Resident Evil title, even your favorites such as:
Mr. X,
Nemesis,
Black Tiger, the lickers, and more! And an added bonus, if you should happen to die during the course of the round (which you will most likely do once Nemesis or Mr. X shows up) you don't have to just sit around and watch others have the fun. Depending on how many zombies you killed you will turn into a different type of infected being, like a hell hound, a blood crow, a licker, or even a boss like Nemesis, if you kill enough.
Level of Addiction: 8/10 - Who knew blasting
the head off of a zombie could feel oh, so right?
